Introduction to Philosophy is an entry level course into the basics surrounding the subject of Philosophy. We will be exploring the big ideas of mostly Western Philosophy by examining core philosophical questions and problems and how select philosophers handled these questions and problems. We will also be heavily involved in examining these philosophies and their respective philosophers through the medium of film. Each unit will consist of a series of philosophical questions/problems, a set of selected philosophers, and a film. Our goal is to have a deeper understanding of how we think, to change our emphasis on certain beliefs we may have held prior, and notice different things about ourselves and each other throughout this journey. Sounds not bad, right? So let's go!

Past Homework |
Present Homework Check above for the assignment. So, with class being only an hour tomorrow, this is what I have planned. We will watch the film. You will spend the time watching and noting what you need. I will have you write a one page paper on the film and its connection to one of the chapters and 2 of the philosophers in that chapter for homework and have you hand it to me either Wednesday or Thursday. I know our class ends tomorrow, but you will still be responsible for handing that paper into me.
